Accountability

I am going to use this blog for accountability in relation to my career as a novel writer.

Big statement that. And arguably not quite true. I am a writer alright. I have technically written one novel. I have never sold a single word of my writing, so career is a little ambitious here. So be it. If I don’t take it seriously, no one else will.

At this point, I have a novel that has been revised a few times and is currently out with some friends and relatives for reading and critique. Based on what feedback I get and/or how I feel about it, I may go back to it in the future and see about pushing toward publication. At the moment, I’m quite proud of having completed a novel, a full story from start to finish, after years of thinking about writing with very little actual writing happening.

My current focus is on sketching out my second novel. It has no connection to the previous one, but might have potential for a universe that contains other stories to explore in the future. I have a character and a rough outline of her plot and on Friday I realised that this may actually be a subplot and the main plot could be bigger and more involved than I thought. I’ve been writing bits of back story to find my way into the character’s voice and that’s been fun. I need to do the same for a few more characters, while this plot/subplot idea brews in the back of my head.

So that’s where things stand as of March 2025. I will have another update in April…

Have your say!
