Too Much Caffeine, Never Enough Chat

Yesterday I went across to Bozcaada to visit Robyn Rowland. Robyn is an Irish-Australian poet who has been visiting this area for many years. She generally stays at the Alesta Hotel run by her friend Meral. It’s always a great excuse for a day trip.

Robyn gave me a copy of her latest book of poetry, Steep Curve, about looking after her Dad before he passed at the age of 102. She’s been in Ireland promoting the book at the Clifden Arts Festival and Eigse Micheal Hartnett among other readings and workshops. She’s a busy woman!

We drank too much cappuccino and Turkish coffee. Including the worst I have ever tasted in my life! And we talked and talked and probably could have talked some more, but the last ferry was about to leave.

A pet day as my Dad would say, bright and sunny and warm. I don’t think I’ve ever been on that ferry when the water was this calm.
