A New Old Hobby

It seems again that it is time to learn,
In this untiring, crumbling place of growth

Mirror In February – Thomas Kinsella

Another birthday, another autumn. Another slightly impulsive leap into yet another hobby.

This time I bought a cross stitch set and some books. This is a hobby I’ve had some success with in the past, though I’ve remained in the market for sets and not tried out my own designs. That will change. Oh yes!

I have a few pictures I think would make great cross stitch patterns, but I’m taking it slowly this time. Not jumping straight to cross stitch software and colour palettes. First this advanced set to see if my eyes can cope (did I mention I just had yet another birthday?), and then I’ll conquer the world.

The possibilities are endless, gifts for family, portraits of friends, landscapes, paintings by the old masters, it can all be stitched. All it takes is a pattern and lots of floss, and etamine, and time, and space, and counting and effort…

Easy!
